CTOMS FireFly, Military Parachute Tree Egress Kit

While tree landings are typically not intentional, sometimes they can’t be avoided, and in certain pararescue and special operations jumps, they may even be intentional. In all cases escaping to the ground can be dangerous and this problem is not helped by the lack of proper self-rescue equipment in a light, compact package. This is why the Firefly tree egress system was designed.

Our intent was to create a safe means of tree egress that was also easy to use and so small that you wouldn’t even notice you are carrying it until you need it. Years of research, development, and testing have gone into the Firefly. It is a combination of 3.6mm rope made of very high strength braided Technora, with a proprietary autolocking descent control device.

The kit comes with everything required to anchor to the tree or the risers, escape the parachute harness or use the parachute harness as the rappel harness, or simply connect to the internal harness in bush suit trousers, and descend under control to the ground.

The kit comes standard with a 20m rope, though longer lengths may be possible for special circumstances. It also includes an emergency harness and anchoring sling. The descent control device will provide a controlled descent with up to a 265 lbs. working load.
